This is the public community safety meeting organised by Soho Road East Neighbourhood Watch as part of West Midlands Neighbourhood Watch Force Area Association’s Birmingham West Active Citizens Network covering the Birchfield, Handsworth, Handsworth Wood, Holyhead, Lozells and Soho and Jewellery Quarter wards.

The purpose of the network meetings are to provide a platform that enables positive engagement between new and established community groups and various partners and stakeholders in your area.

Keeping you, your family, your friends and your community safe

The network is an opportunity to:

• Get updates on local community issues and projects in your area;
• Work together to identify and address common issues;
• Tell us what you think; and
• Get help from local volunteer teams through an established support network.

Past meetings have helped us collectively identify and deal with issues faced by our communities including:

• Anti-social behaviour
• Drug dealing
• Alcohol, drug and substance abuse
• Fly tipping
• Local housing
• Sex workers
• Speeding vehicles
• Violent crime

Representatives from the local council, police, schools, businesses and other organisations have all been invited to attend so we can share our concerns and work together to stop these problems.

The Birmingham West Active Citizens Network is coordinated by volunteers who work closely with West Midlands Neighbourhood Watch Force Area Association.

Coming together to build a stronger and safer community

We must work together to help prevent and reduce crime, the fear of crime, to protect people from harm and make our area a better place to live and work.

Representing your community or organisation

The Birmingham West Active Citizens Network are looking to establish links with partners and stakeholders, such as Independent Advisory Groups (IAGs), local authorities, NHS trusts, the emergency services, not-for profit organisations, community and faith groups, business groups and others. Some representatives have already come forward and links have already been established with partners and stakeholders, but we need more.
